
Yu-Shan Chiu

Yu-Shan Chiu has led 50+ impact and learning projects across a host of social impact sectors. She has conducted 40+ monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) projects with clients tackling issues such as poverty, structural inequity, community development and arts and culture. She has worked with various organisations such as the British Council, EMpower, Comic Relief, Trust for London and data.org. Her main specialty is equitable evaluation. She is well-versed in mixed-method evaluation and specialised in applying an equitable lens to evaluation, using methods such as equitable evaluation, people-centred evaluation, anti-racist evaluation and participatory approaches. She co-founded the UK’s Equitable Evaluation Collective.
She also supports many impact investors with embedding diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) into their investment strategy and process. She has undertaken strategic reviews for impact investors and developed sector-wide resources with the Equality Impact Investing Project. She is interested in how blended finance can better harness social justice.
She holds an MSc in Management with a specialisation in finance from Imperial College London (distinction) and a BA in Foreign Languages and Literatures with a minor in sustainability development from National Taiwan University. She was also a scholar with McKinsey & Company.
